Our Services

MND SA provides information, education and emotional support to all people in South Australia whose lives have been affected by MND. We provide information about MND and its implications, the sources of help and support within the community as well as resources to assist with mobility and communication.  MND SA also promotes research towards treatment and finding a cure for MND.

MND SA staff two MND advisors that specialise in Motor Neurone Disease. They are available to meet with clients and families in the office, at home or in hospital.  MND advisors host information sessions for interested people, service providers and community groups. These sessions educate and enable people to give people with MND the best possible care.

Appropriate information given with emotional support can help patients make more informed decisions about their care and future plans. Support Services are ongoing through the experience of MND, so that clients are supported and assisted.  MND advisors also enable clients to discuss the emotional and practical issues that arise.

MND SA also loan communication devices and promote research into the cause, cure and treatment of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Support Services
MND SA provides an information, education and counselling service to all people in South Australia living with Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

A diagnosis of MND presents many challenges for people and families frequently state that they feel quite overwhelmed after diagnosis. It is the aim of MND SA to provide information about Motor Neurone Disease and its implications, the sources of assistance and support within the community as well as the resources and activities available within the organisation.

Appropriate information given with emotional support can assist clients making informed decisions about their care and future plans. Support services are ongoing through the experience of MND, so that clients and families feel understood while having the opportunity to discuss the emotional and practical issues that arise.

As the effects of Motor Neurone Disease vary from one person to another, so do their needs and wishes. Sometimes it can be helpful to talk through feelings and worries with someone outside the immediate family.  MND SA staff two MND Advisors to assist clients and families.
MND Advisors assist in any way possible to increase the awareness and knowledge of Motor Neurone Disease so that patients and families are supported and understood.

Our MND Advisors are available for:
  • Meeting with patients and families in the office, at home or in hospital

  • Liaising with other agencies that provide care, equipment and support.
MND Advisors are committed to patients, families, carers and health professionals in metropolitan and regional areas. This includes hosting information sessions and home visits where possible
