A huge congratulations to Woz and the Mow Down MND

A huge congratulations to Woz and the Mow Down MND team who arrived safely in Canberra to meet with the Prime Minister a few weeks ago.

Woz set out from Toolleen with the mission of riding his customised lawnmower to Parliament House (an 11 day journey) and collecting 20,000 signatures on his petition to ask the government to make MND a notifiable disease.

Thank you to Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for meeting with Woz and his team, as well as MND Victoria CEO Kate Johnson and the CEO of MND Australia, Clare Sullivan.

It was heartwarming to see so many people from the MND community and beyond make the trip to Parliament House to support Woz as well.
What an outstanding commitment from Woz to spread awareness about MND through this epic journey.
This is an admirable show of support for everyone living with MND today, tomorrow, and those who will be diagnosed with MND in the future

If Woz and his team are successful in prompting the addition of MND to the notifiable disease list, researchers will be able to use public data to investigate demographical similarities between those who are diagnosed with MND and may inform areas of research which may not have previously been looked into.

So great to see MNDSA and our annual Walk To Defeat MND event (Sunday, May 19, 2024) feature in the AFL Record for this weekend's Gather Round in Adelaide.

Thank you to the incredible Grigg family for allowing us to share their story of a lifetime in football in SA but also their sad personal experience with MND, losing Chris in 2022.

This week is National Advanced Care Planning Week

This week is National Advanced Care Planning Week and, in recognition of this, the State Government have introduced a new and improved Advance Care Directive form.

Advance Care Directives ensure your wishes for future care are known if you are unable to communicate or make particular decisions for yourself due to illness or injury.

MNDSA clients can find out more about Advance Care Directives and how to prepare them with their Support Coordinator.
